In the beginning….
When I was in 4th grade, my Social Studies teacher, assigned a project for each student to write about foreign country. After my mom and dad agreed that I’d write about Czechoslovakia, still one country at the time and the country of many of my ancestors, my mom swiftly took me to a travel agency to grab brochures full of pictures. Those pictures provided my first peek into another world,
At that very moment, I knew my one true purpose was to see the world.
Fast forward to 2023, I have seen 42 countries across all 7 continents. My very first trip outside the USA was to Reykjavik, Iceland in 1987 - my mom offered Disney and I begged for Iceland.

In this blog, I plan to use categories like “Ladies’/Girls’ Trips”, “Grandkids”, “Parents”, and the like, to effectively share:
- Stories and images from my trips
- Useful itineraries for others
Why categories? I’ve traveled alone, with my spouse, with my family, friends, or kids, and/or grandkids. Traveled with experts that know what they are doing to first timers that are thrilled to be on the underground! Those are all very different types of trips, and not because of location (i.e., my grandkids have been to the Arctic) but because of the planning requirements and type and pace of activities.
For example, rest assured that my trip to Amsterdam with my cousin/friend was significantly different than the visit with my grandkids. See…..

Why another blog on travel? I am a GenX adult. That gives you a general idea of my age. I’m old enough to know that if you can afford a Marriott you will pick it every time over a hostel. And while I will swim with animals, I won’t be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.
If you have anything in particular you would like to hear about, let me know!
